We are delighted to announce that SRL Traffic Systems is a finalist in the Best HAE Member Covid-19 Response category at this year’s Hire Awards of Excellence.
Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, businesses have had to navigate and adapt to ever changing and often unpredictable situations. This award aims to recognise members’ responses to Covid-19, particularly how new and improved processes lessened the impact and protected employees and customers.
Do the right thing
With the support of the board of directors, ESH&Q Manager, Mark Gordon was instrumental in leading SRL’s covid response. Driven by the mantra, do the right thing, Mark said, “Early recognition of the potential threat of Covid-19 was vital. From the outset, we implemented a daily covid-response call which enabled us to react to the ever-changing threat and engage the wider business.”
Mark continues, “The communications we provided to both internal and external stakeholders were clear and concise. I was responsible for the creation, cascade, follow-up and evaluation of all communication, ensuring all stakeholders remained well-informed throughout.”
Through our 29-depot network, we established plans to safeguard employees’ and customers’ health and well-being, working tirelessly to provide our normal level of service. Without question, the early adoption of covid-response strategies helped to offset additional pressure on operations.
Some of SRL’s key strategies are highlighted below:
· Daily briefings and memos to staff
· Early adoption of remote working (where possible)
· Sustained, allocated PPE provision from central internal source
· Instructional signage at all SRL locations
· Thorough cleaning and sanitisation of all equipment prior to hire/ sale.
· Meticulous case monitoring and response
· Engagement of specialist cleaning company to stem infection spread (where necessary)
SRL’s Covid-19 response is inherently broken down into three key stages: prior and early onset, midst pandemic and safeguarding for the future. Mark and the team are under no illusion that the hard work is complete.
Mark concludes, “Throughout the pandemic, we learned a great deal about the resilience and determination of SRL employees. We have an engaged workforce, robust infrastructure and adaptable systems which will undoubtedly stand us in good stead as we move forward.”
Establishing a mature safety culture
Of SRL’s nomination, Richard Tredwin, CEO, cited, “It is incredibly important for SRL to adjust policies and procedures to align with Government and health authority guidance and ensure that both our team and customers are safe. This award recognition highlights SRL’s determination in establishing a mature safety culture.
“We’re exceptionally grateful for Mark’s continued hard work throughout the pandemic. Mark’s ‘can-do’ approach inspired incredible employee engagement throughout the company and I have no doubt that the enforced procedures are solely responsible for the minimal disruption to the business. Fingers crossed for the final.”
