TGL initially chose SRL Traffic Systems because of their commitment to their hire division. They were the only manufacturer with a hire division and service commitment to offer 24/7 product support.
Matt Bassett continues, “Hiring fits our business model as it gives us complete flexibility to manage our customer’s varying workload and business needs. SRL have been the ideal hire partner, their products are of a high quality, easy to operate and we have the full support of their 24/7 call-out facility, so we have complete confidence in the products we hire. In the early days when we didn’t have a big team, SRL were able to support us with a battery change and maintenance service which massively helped us provide our customers with that support, until we built up our own in-house support.”
With 30 depots across the UK and Ireland SRL is able to provide a fast, efficient response and wide coverage to support customers. For TGL, this availability and depot selection around London was of great importance.
Matt said, “SRL’s depot selection has been very good for us and we are well served in London with their depots in Romford, East Grinsted and Radlett. We have always felt very supported by SRL’s availability and responsiveness, so we’ve never had to look elsewhere, it’s not been a consideration.”
“We’ve got a fantastic relationship with the team at SRL. We’ve known Alison and Malcolm in the management team for years and they have been very supportive of our business. They’ve helped us make sure we’re competitive and they understand our business, what we do and what’s important to our customers.”
“A stand out project for me was the support SRL gave us during the NFL (National Football League) London Games at Wembley in October 2018. Wembley packed in over 84,000 people into this exciting weekend of sport and SRL’s support with the delivery, placement and risk assessment of VMS was crucial for us to provide a safe, informative event for visitors. Quick and easy to install, SRL’s VMS offered us a robust solution with the choice and flexibility of using any colour in the spectrum, which is great for events. But they are also a necessity to support traffic management on road improvement schemes, school zones, road safety campaigns and utility works. SRL will be supplying us with VMS for this year’s European Football Championship at Wembley.”
“SRL has grown massively during our working relationship and their investment in staff, products, technology and services, has benefitted us. We’ve taken up the opportunity to brand the temporary traffic lights in our colours to enhance our branding and to help with identification, which is an initiative SRL brought in to support customers. But it’s their continued investment in their urban set up and ITS technologies that has been good for us as this is where we operate and it is this ITS technology our urban traffic management and event management customers are looking for.”
Our core customer base of utility companies, event companies and Local Authorities now stipulate the use of temporary and portable intelligent traffic systems (ITS) to ensure the safe management of traffic, cyclists and pedestrians at road closures, temporary road and utility works. Our relationship with SRL Traffic Systems developed around 2017 to support this growing need and usage has easily quadrupled since then.”

If you experience a problem or fault with our traffic lights getting it resolved quickly is in everyone’s interest including SRL.
Whilst SRL are often the manufacturer and owner of the equipment they will be hired and maintained by a Traffic Management Company or Utility Company who will be responsible for faults and maintenance whilst the equipment is on the road. You will be able to identify who’s responsibility they are by either a “site apology board” detailing an emergency contact number or by looking on the back of the road signs to find the name of the “TM” company to contact. Unfortunately SRL are unable to attend the site without first being instructed by our customer.
